The DebateCiti project—funded under Erasmus+ KA210-SCH—aims to empower young Europeans as active, informed citizens through structured debate practices combined with advanced media literacy skills. We believe debate is more than just a teaching technique: it is a critical pillar for nurturing democratic values and combating misinformation.
Our project is centered around four strategic objectives:
🕵️♀️ Fact-Checking & Debate Competences
Equip students and teachers with critical skills to identify misinformation, analyze arguments, and distinguish fact from opinion in a digital world.
🎓 Innovative Teaching Approaches
Support teachers in integrating engaging, debate-based teaching methodologies across school curricula to enhance students’ critical thinking and motivation.
🇪🇺 European Democratic Values
Foster reflection and active dialogue on European democratic ideals, building inclusive mindsets among students and preventing radicalization and polarization.
🌈 Respect for Diversity
Promote mutual understanding, active listening, and collaborative problem-solving skills necessary for thriving in diverse European societies.
The DebateCiti initiative is deeply aligned with the values enshrined in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) and Article 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (CFREU):
Respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights—including rights of minorities.
We affirm our full commitment to these principles, ensuring that all our activities actively embody and promote tolerance, solidarity, non-discrimination, and equality between all citizens.
In the wise words of Alexis de Tocqueville:
“Democracy is the power of an informed people.”
Inspired by this belief, we aim to cultivate informed, empowered young citizens capable of engaging responsibly and thoughtfully with the complexities of contemporary society.
✅ Join us in shaping the informed citizens of tomorrow through the empowering practice of debate and informed dialogue! 🌍
